A Gitteh Nacht
‫גוטע נאכט‬
This composition came to me as a gift from Hashem, and I see
myself as the conduit to bringing this bakasha to the world.
As a child, my mother would say this teﬃla with me before bed, “‫שדי‬
‫ “ישמרינו ויצילנו מכל רע‬and as I grew older I added my own
additional words to complete the idea.
Our goal is to have a real and authentic relationship with Hashem,
and saying goodnight is part of that. We turn to Hashem at the end
of the day, knowing that He is the One who saves and protects us at
all times. We may be sleeping but Hashem is always guarding us.
